Grid Telecom, as the telecommunications vehicle of IPTO, is in a unique position to offer diverse and highly reliable terrestrial and subsea fiber connections throughout Greece and beyond, leveraging its position as an emerging carrier neutral telecommunications hub in the broader region. Grid Telecom is aiming to develop and establish the island of Crete as a strategic open-access interconnection node in the Balkans – Mediterranean area by adding capacity of hundreds of Tbps, through “MINOAS East-West” and “APOLLO East-West” cable systems providing four geographically alternative subsea routes to the Greek mainland with 96 fiber pairs in total.
