Grid Telecom - Lancom Agreement for the Balkan Gate I

Lancom and Grid Telecom announce of their cooperation that starts with the creation of a central protected point of presence (Protected Point of Presence) of Grid Telecom at the under construction Balkan Gate I, in Kalochori, Thessaloniki. The Balkan Gate I, with TIER III specifications of the Uptime Institute, will provide all the guarantees for the smooth and uninterrupted operation of the Carrier Grade fiber optic network of Grid Telecom, in Northern Greece and in the Balkans.

Grid Telecom, a subsidiary of IPTO, utilizes its onshore and submarine fiber optic network, providing leased high-speed lines to domestic and international providers. The fiber optic network, with a total length of 3,000 km with an extension plan to 12,000 km, extends throughout Greece, uniting it with all the Balkan countries and Turkey. In addition, Grid enhances the availability of dark fiber services by providing alternative routes for providers to develop their own reliable and protected fiber optic network.

Lancom has been active since 2009, offering Public and Private Cloud & Data Center services to Greek and multinational companies and organizations, through its two privately owned data centers in Thessaloniki and Athens. At the same time, it is developing its own metropolitan fiber optic network in both cities, providing protected fiber to business (FTTB) connectivity solutions at speeds from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps. The construction of its third data center, Balkan Gate I, will offer Northern Greece its largest carrier neutral Data Center and one of the largest and most advanced Energy Efficient Data Centers in Southeastern Europe.

The CEO of Lancom, Mr. George Nolis, stated the following:

"The cooperation between the two companies is a cornerstone in strengthening the digital transformation of our country, placing Greece in a competitive position with a strong presence among the other European countries. Lancom, through this partnership with Grid Telecom, makes Balkan Gate I a unique telecommunications HUB for the Balkans "

The CEO of Grid Telecom, Mr. George Psyrris, stated in this regard:

"The choice of Lancom and the -under construction- Balkan Gate I with TIER III specifications, are for us a guarantee for the security and the high availability of our network. It was something that was missing from Thessaloniki, which has the geostrategic position to be the HUB of the wider Balkan region. Grid Telecom methodically expands its network and presence in Data Centers, facilitating the access of its potential customers to its high level and availability services "
