After interconnecting with the biggest data centers in Greece, GRID TELECOM is announcing its collaboration with SPARKLE GREECE and the interconnection of its optical fiber network with SPARKLE’s data center in Metamorfosi, Attica.

Part of the Sparkle Group, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, Sparkle Greece is a leader in the Cloud and Data Center market, with 40% of the market share and more than 100 clients among ISPs, telecom providers, enterprises and public institutions, both domestic and foreign.

Sparkle Greece manages and operates four data centers – three in Athens and one in Chania, for a total area of >14.000 sqm and >15MW supplied power – as well as a proprietary fiber optic network that connects all of its facilities and is fully integrated with Sparkle’s global backbone.

First provider in Greece to be certified for the use of renewable energies, Sparkle Greece commits to environmental sustainability adopting state-of-the-art energy efficient equipment.

Established in 2019 as a subsidiary company of the Greek Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), GRID TELECOM aims to commercially exploit IPTO’s terrestrial and submarine fiber optic network, providing high-speed telecommunications services to domestic and international providers as well as large companies. With a total length of 3,000km and an expansion plan to 12,000 km, the fiber optic network extends throughout Greece, ensuring a very high level of service availability. GRID’s network will be expanded beyond the Greek borders within 2021, providing international connectivity.
